Activists Demand Better Treatment at Bronx Car Wash

On Saturday, worker and community activists joined elected officials and religious leaders at the Wash and Lube car wash in the Bronx to demand higher pay and better working conditions for the “carwasheros” employed there. The car wash is one of many owned by New York City car wash kingpin Jon Lage.

The action was part of the ongoing efforts to organize car wash workers in New York City, which has helped carwasheros at seven city car washes win a union voice with the RWDSU. Two of the locations have now ratified union contracts, the first east of Los Angeles.
